Prenatal MOT

The Prenatal MOT is designed to address common pregnancy-related issues such as back pain, pelvic girdle pain, and sciatica. It also provides a valuable opportunity to assess your pelvic floor in preparation for birth, and to identify and treat ongoing dysfunctions like incontinence, constipation, and prolapse.

During your session, we will discuss your pelvic health and, with your consent, assess pelvic floor function—including strength and your ability to relax. We’ll also cover important topics such as perineal massage, labour positions, breathing techniques, and caring for your perineum in the early postpartum weeks.

You will receive a comprehensive assessment, personalised advice, targeted exercises, and, if needed, hands-on therapy to help alleviate pain and discomfort. This holistic approach aims to support your body throughout pregnancy, helping you move comfortably and feel confident as you prepare for birth.

Pre-natal MOT – what to expect?

Your Prenatal MOT will be customised to address your specific concerns, but here are some of the aspects that can be reviewed

  • Postural assessment
  • Internal and or external vaginal assessment of pelvic floor muscles
  • Bladder and bowel health
  • Advice on preventing post-natal conditions
  • Recommendations for safe prenatal exercises
  • Training in perineal self-massage
  • Labour preparation and guidance
  • C-section prep and guidance
  • Postnatalrehab 0-6weeks
  • Addressing any prenatal-related concerns

You will leave feeling empowered as you will have a better understanding of your body, and a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your goals and needs.

When Should I Book a Prenatal MOT?

You can arrange a Prenatal MOT at any time after your 12-week scan up until your due date. It offers comprehensive prenatal check-ups and valuable insight as your body adapts and changes during pregnancy. In your third trimester, you’ll learn techniques such as perineal massage if planning a vaginal delivery and how to relax your pelvic floor, which will help you go into birth feeling prepared and empowered.
